Jiayi Li (b. 2001, China) is a digital animator, filmmaker, and interactive performer exploring animated textures and beings through screen-based media and live output. In her current work, Jiayi creates contemporary fairy tales populated by gender-fluid creatures.
She develops pixelated hybrid organisms from intuitive drawings and installs them in virtual dreamscapes. Using the tension between tranquility and unease as the visual medium, her works reflect on the collective unconscious and shared human memories.
